LOU'S STORY
Lou Larson was 90 years old when he picked up his first paint brush. He was living in a senior’s retirement centre and after his wife passed away and something needed to fill the void of being alone (besides the grief of losing his life partner).
When Lou began to have trouble walking due to his age and polio he did not like the idea of using a walker to help him to the dining room. Losing one’s mobility is not an interesting prospect. As an entrepreneur and engineer Lou knew how to make good use out of his time and began to paint.
He created over 20 original works of art some of which are included in Cindy's book End of Life Stories – Tips and Tools for the Souls Journey Home. Lou’s artwork inspired people because it reminded them of special places and times of long ago. Lou's message “you are never too old!”, lives on through his beautiful paintings, greeting cards and story.
Cindy's workshops, book, and puppet shows about solutions for the common concerns of seniors are inspired by Lou's story, and the character "Grumpa" is created in his image.
